One of the most valuable assets a new business owner can have is a good and capable mentor. Someone who has “been there” and has already made all of the mistakes. Their mistakes are your teachings and can help you to avoid making them yourself.
Mentors have the wisdom that comes from their experience. They have the foresight that you, as the new business owner, may lack and as such can more easily point out the potential pitfalls before you reach them.
Of course, mentors are not going to be interested in wasting their time on a person who is not intent on working hard to achieve their goals. Their job isn’t to do all the work for you. It is to teach you and help guide you in the right direction. It is your responsibility to learn and grow and put in place the lessons you learn.
Once you have “arrived” don’t forget to give back. Become a mentor to another new business owner.
